Level 1 CNC Operators (Entry Level)
Duties
J R Global Manufacturing, Inc. produces machined and fabricated metal components for customers representing transportation, equipment, communication, research and other commercial businesses. The company uses computer numerical controlled (CNC) machines to produce these items.
This is an entry level position and no specific previous experience is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Produces machined parts by loading and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines

Duties
- Loads raw material into CNC machining and turning centers and begins automatic cycle.
- Inspects work pieces to insure compliance to engineering requirements.
- Uses work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, to monitor and adjust reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
- Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
- Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
- Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
- Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications, watching YouTube videos, reading blogs, etc.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Effectively cooperate and communicate with management and fellow employees.

- Will be trained to set up mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.
- Will be trained to sets-up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and bushings; indicating vices; tramming heads.
- Will be trained to make minor edits to CNC programs at each machine to improve efficiency, tool life, or safety.
- Will be trained to operate networked computers and manipulate/edit CNC program code.
- Will be given opportunity to learn Cadkey, SurfCam, and SolidWorks for the purposes of modifying CNC program code and designing work holding tooling.
- Will be given opportunity to learn Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet application.
- Will be given knowledge of cutting tool geometry and applications.
- $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
